Frequently asked questions
Is the free weekly backup really free?
Yes. Every VPS includes a weekly automated snapshot at no charge. It retains the last 4 weekly snapshots. Your subscription plan covers access to the backup service.
How is backup storage billed?
Paid plans use metered billing. At the end of each billing period, we measure the total GiB of snapshot storage your VPS consumed and charge accordingly. Rates vary by plan: $0.06/GiB (daily), $0.04/GiB (12h), $0.025/GiB (6h), $0.02/GiB (4h).
Can I change my backup plan at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or disable paid backups at any time from your cloud panel. Changes take effect immediately. Billing is pro-rated to your actual usage for the period.
What does "crash-consistent" mean?
A crash-consistent snapshot captures the entire disk state at a single point in time, as if the server had crashed and rebooted. This is safe for most databases and file systems. It does not require shutting down your server.
How long does a restore take?
Restoration time depends on disk size but is typically a few minutes for common VPS configurations. The restore is fully automated — just select the snapshot and confirm in your cloud panel.
Are backups stored in the same data center as my VPS?
Snapshots are stored within the same cloud provider region as your VPS. For additional geographic redundancy, we recommend pairing backups with our object storage product.
